Weekend Plumber in Ogden
Weekend calls run like any other emergency call with one difference: supply houses are closed from Saturday afternoon until Monday, so a repair needing an unusual part gets made safe and finished on Monday.
What to do right now
Do these first. None of them need tools or plumbing knowledge, and they limit what this ends up costing you.
Stop and get out if any of these are true
Water has reached anything electrical and you cannot cut power from a dry position, or sewage has entered living space. In either case leave the area, do not touch switches, and call from outside.
- Shut off the water at the mainIn most Ogden homes the main shutoff is where the supply line comes through the foundation wall, usually in the basement or crawlspace on the street side, often near the meter or the water heater. Turn it clockwise. If it will not move, do not force it, because an old gate valve can snap.
- Stop using water everywhere in the houseEvery flush, shower and washing machine cycle adds to a blockage that already has nowhere to go. It comes back up at the lowest fixture. Stop using water entirely until the line is clear.
- Move what water can ruinLift boxes, rugs, electronics and anything sitting on a basement floor. Most of the cost of a plumbing emergency is damage to belongings rather than the repair itself.
- Photograph everything before you clean upPhotos and a short video of the water, the source and every damaged item. If you claim on insurance this is the evidence, and it cannot be recreated once the area is dry.
Does this need a plumber tonight?
- Water escaping that you cannot stop
- Sewage backing up into the house
- A burst pipe
- No water in freezing weather
- Every drain in the house backing up at once
- The water is off and nothing is getting worse
- One slow drain with the rest working normally
- A dripping tap
- No hot water in mild weather
The Monday problem, stated plainly
Weber County plumbing supply houses close Saturday afternoon and do not open again until Monday. That is the single biggest practical difference about a weekend call.
For most failures it changes nothing. Common pipe, valves, fittings and fixtures live on the truck. A burst copper line, a failed shutoff, a blocked main, an overflowing toilet: all of those are finished on the day.
Where it bites is anything specific. A water heater in an odd size, a discontinued cartridge, a fitting for a pre-war galvanised system. On a Saturday those cannot be sourced at any price, so the honest sequence is to isolate the failure, make the house usable, and return on Monday. Being told that on the phone is more useful than being told it after a wasted call-out.
Whether it can wait until Monday
If you have shut the water off and nothing is getting worse, most plumbing problems can wait, and we will tell you so rather than book a weekend visit you did not need.
The exceptions are the ones where waiting causes damage or risk. Water you cannot stop, sewage in living space, no water during a freeze, and anything wet near electrics. Those are weekend calls regardless of the day.
Everything else is a judgement about whether the house is usable. A blocked main with one bathroom in the house is a weekend call because you cannot live without it. The same blockage in a house with a second working bathroom often is not.
What a weekend call costs
There is no diagnostic fee Monday to Friday before 4pm. After 4pm, at weekends and on holidays the diagnostic fee is $175, and that is credited toward the repair if you approve the work. Published prices for the common jobs are on the costs page, and whatever the hour you hear the price and agree to it before any work starts.
Ask whether the weekend rate differs from the weekday rate, and whether a call-out fee applies. Get the answer before dispatch.
Questions people ask about this
Do you work Saturdays and Sundays?
Yes, and holidays. A person answers the phone every day of the year.
Will my repair be finished on the day?
Usually. Common failures are completed on the visit. Anything needing a part that only a supply house carries gets isolated and made safe, then completed on Monday in a single return visit.
Is a weekend call more expensive?
Yes. Nothing Monday to Friday before 4pm. After 4pm, at weekends and on holidays it is $175, credited toward the repair if you go ahead.
Can this wait until Monday?
If the water is off and nothing is getting worse, usually yes. Describe what you can see and hear and we will give you a straight answer rather than a booking.
If that is not quite what you have
Not sure how urgent this is?
Describe what you can see and hear. We will tell you whether it needs someone tonight, and what to do in the meantime either way.
